Correspondence from our CAM
By Susan Hildebrand

It seems as though we are constantly asking for the emergency contact form for our files and yet when we need one there is none.  Every single homeowner in this community (snowbird or not) should not only have one on file but make sure it’s updated should there be any changes.  We have had several incidents in the last month where concerned neighbors said they hadn’t seen their neighbor for a couple of days and did not know who to call.  Well, neither did we! Precious time is wasted.  These bright yellow forms are available in the entrance way to the community center, the front gate and the office.  While you are picking one up, how about a neighbor or someone else you know who may not be able to get out.  Pick one up for them and help them fill it out.  Maybe you can be their contact!  I would also like to mention that the Hernando County Sheriffs office has a program called CARE LINE.  To participate you need to request an application from the Sheriff’s office, 754-6830 or our office, complete and return it to the Sheriff’s Office.  It works likes this, once you are registered, you must call the CARE LINE between 7 am and 11 am.  Should they not hear from you they will call the contact you have listed on your form.  If this fails, a deputy will be dispatched to your home to check on your well being.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Travel Club by Trey Jordan

Hello all High Pointers

Summer is upon us and it is hot!  Then again in January we complain about the 40 degree weather, so I think I will just have to welcome the heat.  After all we live in Florida and it is supposed to be hot!

The travel club will have been to see the Rays vs. Boston as of June 30th.  On July 9th we are going to see “Menopause the Musical” at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota with lunch at Millers Dutch Kitchen.  On August 13th
we are planning a trip to Orlando to Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner Show.  We are also sponsoring a trip to Helen, Ga. For Oktoberfest on Oct. 20th through the 23rd, price for this trip is $379.00 per person double.  On October 25th we will be going to see Carmie Petrillo, a Veteran Las Vegas Performer. He does comedy, impersonations and he sings!  We will be going to Silver Springs for the Festival of Lights and a Holiday Buffet Dinner on December 17th.  There is a lot more in the works for this upcoming 08/09 season so get to

a travel club meeting and see what is going on.  The travel club meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 11:00 am.  Hope to see you there.

Garden Club by President, Lynn Trotter
Looks like the summer rains are here.  Make sure a slow releasing fertilizer is used on your lawn; it will last through the summer rains and will not encourage too much soft tender growth, which attracts insects to feed on the lawn.  The 4th of July is upon us again, and thanks to Velma Ambrose, she will be decorating my golf cart for the parade as she did last year.
Congratulations to the July beauty spots:
Lieselotte Bueltmann
9032 Highpoint Blvd.

And
Robert Wayne & Anna Willemsen
8015 Baltic St
.
The Garden Club wishes all a Happy 4th of July.  See you at the parade.

Presidential Election:
On Tuesday August 26th from 7 am to 7 pm the Presidential Primary Elections will be held at the Community Center.  Please mark your calendars and come out and vote.

The Truth about Mold:

Mold occurs naturally both indoors and outdoors. Mold spores could be found in nearly every structure in the United States , regardless of how new or clean the structure is.  That’s because mold, in normal amounts is no more dangerous than dust or pollen.  Some forms can add value to our lives, others can be harmful. Excessive amounts of mold or exposure may present health concerns for some people.
