Correspondence from our CAM
Your annual HPCPO ballots will be out in the mail soon. We urge each household to vote. Hopefully we have your correct mailing address and it won’t be chasing you around the country! Please remember to keep the office advised of any mailing changes throughout the year. Now that most of you have made your November dues payment many of you are asking,” when do I get my new booklet?” After the December 4, 2008 election results are finalized the new booklets can be ordered. They are mailed directly from the company that prints them and they generally are received around mid December. So please make sure we have your correct mailing address and please vote. We mail over 1740 ballots and receive between 900-1100 back. Remember this is your community and every vote counts!
Did you know?
We have our own TV channel. If you have Bright House for your cable company, you can tune in to channel 95. This is High Points own station and is a very informative station that lets you know what’s happening in your community.

Thanksgiving at High Point:
Due to the huge success last year of our first Thanksgiving Day Dinner we are doing it again, but a little different. We are selling tickets this year for $5.00. However, bring nothing but your appetite! Fresh roasted turkey, ham and all the fixing will be served to you by our wonderful group of volunteers. We ask any of you who may know of a shut-in to please give Ellie Martin a call @ 597-1409 as we will be happy to deliver dinner to them.
US Troops Christmas:
Our Share-A- Craft ladies have been doing a great job sending packages (422 to date) to our troops overseas, but they need your help. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. There are boxes located in the community center for your donations. Please support our troops. They are sacrificing their lives each and every day for us.
Garden Club by Lynn Trotter
Holiday time is fast approaching and we are busy, busy, busy. Please mark your calendar for the annual plant sale on November 1st which will be held in the community center starting at 8:00 am. These different kinds of plants are home grown by our own High Point residents and are cheap, cheap, cheap.
Hope all enjoyed the Halloween decorations this year at the information booth. Watch for the Thanksgiving decorations and our famous Tom turkey.
Because there is a lot of Christmas decorating to do, we will start earlier this year. However, they will not be lit until our annual Christmas festivities on December 5th at 6:00pm at the Community Center.
As usual I am asking for new members to join us. The club meeting will be held November 20th at 10:30 am so come and see what we are about. After our meeting we will play a few games of bingo.
Congratulations to the November Beauty spots:

Mobile Patrol by Ed Oleszek:
Welcome back snowbirds. Now is the time to slow down the pace, relax and enjoy. Please remember that now that the weather is cooler, people are out and about, walking or just enjoying the weather. Remember the streets in High Point are county roads. So, please slow down while you are out there driving in the community. The speed limit is 30 mph and this is the law!
Pets:
When pets are not within the confines of your home or fenced in yard, they must be restrained by a leash.
You are also required to PICK UP after your dog.
A special thanks to CJ Johnson for answering our plea last month in putting out the trash for the dog park!
Political Signs:
Election Day is November 4, 2008. The day after the election is over you must remove your political signs.
Golf Carts:
It’s time to remind everyone who owns a golf cart of some of the rules:
1.) Golf carts are only to be driven from sun up until sundown.
2.) They are to be driven on the streets of HP only. That means don’t go past the guard house.
3.) NO ONE UNDER 14 is allowed to drive a golf carts on a public highway per Florida Statutes.
4.) They need to be registered at the Golf Club or the Homeowners Office. With the number you are assigned displayed on the cart.
We say it over and over again, but this is a privilege and it can be taken away. Please obey the rules.
American Cancer Society
Cancer patients in Hernando County need your help in getting to chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The American Cancer Society’s ROAD TO RECOVERY program is in desperate need of volunteers who are willing to drive these patients.
Schedules are flexible. Training is provided. Requirements are a safe driving record, valid driver’s license, insurance and a smoke-free vehicle in good running condition.
For more information call Joan at (352) 799-9078.
Christmas Parade:
We will be having a golf cart Christmas parade before the annual Christmas lighting ceremony on December 5th. The parade will start at 5 pm at the club house. If you’re interested please contact Shelia Kirk at 597-9887 or Sandy Peeters at 398-4433 for information. Entry forms are also available at the HPCPO Office. All participants must have their forms in no later than November 20th.
The Concordia Chorus will be performing inside the community center after the golf cart parade and Christmas lighting. There will be a Christmas show with Clay Kirk and his elves. This will be bigger and better than last year. Refreshments will be served.
Toys for Tots:
There will be 2 boxes in the Community Center on December 18th from 2-4pm. Please bring your unwrapped toy and make some child’s Christmas a little brighter.
