Do you realize that our own Share-A-Craft group has already shipped out 826 packages to the troops? Our troops are overseas fighting for our country. So while they are fighting for us, let’s support them. These ladies donate their time to collect and make the items shipped. Each package costs $10.00 to mail. They rely on your generosity to help with not only the shipping cost but the goodies inside. So next time you’re at a dollar store pick up a few items. Monetary donations may be made at the office, all other donations may be placed in the donation box in the Community Center. Here are some ideas:
Male & female Deodorant (non aerosol)
White socks/disposable razors/foot powder
Sunscreen/chewing gum/chapstick/batteries
*** Items need to be trial size ***

Lunch will be on your own at the Channelside district. On October 4th we have a baseball game at Tropicana field between the Rays and The New York Yankees. Also on October 4th we have a trip to New England to see the Fall colors for 8 days and 7 nights. October 14th we will be going on an ecological cruise with Capt. Dennis aboard the Manatee Seeker in Deland, Fl. This tour goes up the St. Johns river and lunch is included. November 4th we will sail on the Calypso Queen from Clearwater to Tarpon Springs. Breakfast and lunch will be served on board. There will also be free time in Tarpon Springs to explore the sponge docks. We have a great 4 night cruise to the Bahamas on January 11th of 2010. The price is under $300.00 for an inside cabin.

Safety Awareness:
Just a reminder to all residents, especially because many are starting to come back from up North.
When leaving the High Point Community be aware of a few dangerous spots while driving out toward Rt. 50.
1. Pay attention to people stopping to
mail letters or pick up a newspaper.
2 Finally, when you get to the stop
light at Rt. 50, before you go on
the green light, look both ways for
cars and trucks trying to make it
thru the light. Also be aware of the
vehicles that are across the road
coming into High Point or turning. We have had several problems at both of these intersections. Be alert. Believe me it’s worth your life. Take your time, don’t rush and look around.

Garden Club by President, Lynn Trotter
Autumn begins September 22nd. I believe everyone will welcome the cooler weather. A few perennials to plant now are creeping Phlox, Chrysanthemums and Salvia. Major pruning of ornamental plants should be done by the end of this month.
The garden club will be in full swing on October 15th. General meeting time is 10:30 a.m. Membership drive is always going on. I hope to see new smiling faces and of course welcome our existing smiling members.
Have a safe and great Labor Day weekend.

Community Relations by Ginger Flynn
On behalf of all in the Community, I would like to say a big “Thank You!” to all of you who work so hard to keep your properties maintained even during the rainy season. Not only is “pride of ownership” displayed in this way, but also concern and consideration for your High Point neighbors. With 1750 homes in our “neighborhood,” if the vast majority were not conscientious regarding our basic rules and regulations we would have a far less pleasant place to live.
Of course, from time to time, there are concerns that need to be addressed. During the summer, these largely center on lawn care. While some may cut their grass weekly to keep up with the rains, others may cut at longer intervals. When lawns or lots become out-of-control we address these concerns with vendors and homeowners, usually with good results. Some instances may take longer than others to resolve. We certainly appreciate the patience and understanding of concerned neighbors as we address these issues. Thank you again for your support of our great community and have a wonderful late summer and fall!
Concordia Chorus will begin rehearsals on Sept. 14th at 6:30
pm in the Community Center. If you enjoy singing, please attend. No audition is necessary. The chorus is sponsoring the Mario Deleon Band on Sunday Oct. 4th at 1 pm. Tickets will be
available in the office. The Senior Singers will meet on the 3rd
Sunday of each month at 4 pm. The 1st Fall meeting is Sept. 20th in the Community Center.
Contact Gini Schweigert at 592-2147 if you have any questions.
