Correspondence from our CAM
“All members of the Association should be aware of the fact that a significant impact on the legal budget of the Association occurs when members or their tenants violate the restrictions, resulting in the involvement of legal counsel.  The procedures which need to be followed through the Courts, and for notification prior to any Court action, are expensive and these are not budgeted for by the Association.  It would be appreciated if all owners could keep this in mind when you receive a notice regarding a violation of the restrictions and a request to comply”
When in doubt for “Just the Facts”. Call the office 596-2397

Travel Club by Trey Jordan
Well our season is getting started.  The Travel Club has a few things going on and more in the works.  We will be going on The Manatee Seeker out of Deland, Fla. on Oct. 14th.  We have a maximum

capacity of 50 on this trip.  We are also going on the Calypso Queen out of Clearwater to Tarpon Springs on Nov. 4th.  We are adding a trip to the Sleuths Mystery show on Nov. 6th.  This will be a matinee

and the cost is $61.00.  We have a great 4 night cruise to the Bahama’s on Jan. 11,  2010.  Prices are under $300.00 per person including all taxes and if you want transportation to the port we have a bus for only $45.00 per person.  This is round trip.  Get to a travel club meeting and see what we are up to.  We meet at 11 am in the Community Center on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month.  See

you there.

Bylaws and Nominating Committee
It’s that time of the year again.  Anyone interested in running for one of the 3 directors’ positions available please contact Guy Peeters at 398-4433 or the HPCPO office at 596-2397.  Final nominations will be taken at the October 29th Budget/By-law/Nominating meeting

held in the Community Center at 2:30 pm.  Each
Candidate will be asked to submit a brief bio about themselves to be mailed with the election packet.   Attached please find a generalize version of the 5 proposed by-law changes on which you will be asked to vote.  This should allow sufficient time should you have any questions.
High Point Golf Club by Katie Russell
October has arrived & fall is here…. don’t you feel the chill in the air?  Welcome “Snowbirds”. We’re glad you’re back! The Shoe Karaoke will be at the
High Point Community Center on Saturday, November 28th from 6 –
11 pm.  Donations are $4.00.  Save this date on your calendar, come out

and enjoy listening to your friends sing, or maybe you could try it yourself.  It will be a fun evening.
We would like to invite you to check out our membership & see what you get by joining HIGH
POINT GOLF CLUB, even for 6 months it is a better bargain than going elsewhere 2 or 3 times a week.
Our café is open for everyone and the food is great.  We would like to thank you all for supporting our Labor Day cook out.  You helped make it a great success!
The general meeting for the Golf Club will be on the 3rd Wednesday

of each month beginning October 21, 2009 at 2 pm.
Garden Club by President, Lynn Trotter
Calling all members!!  It’s that time again.
Board meeting is Oct. 12th at 2 p.m.
General meeting is Oct 15th at 10:30 a.m.  Plans will be made for

the upcoming holiday decorations, plant sale and Christmas lighting.  Hope to see a few new members.  At the end of October you can start to plant:  Dusty Miller, Pansy, Petunia, Snapdragons.  Most of these plants can provide color throughout the winter.  Please note!!!  The purpose for the beauty spots of the month is to encourage curb appeal in our community.  The beauty patrol will not trespass on anyone’s property.  I realize some residents spend a lot of time beautifying their backyards, especially those yards that over look the golf course.  Recently I had the pleasure of being invited to James & Jeanne Candy’s home at 12077 Sara St. to look at their backyard.  I was amazed at how beautiful it was.  A lush tropical paradise with an abundance of butterflies having a good time.  Therefore it is my pleasure, James & Jeanne Candy, to have your property in this newsletter as Honorable mention for a beautiful backyard.
Congratulations to the October Beauty Spots:

American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society recently opened the Hernando Resource Room at the Pinebrook Regional Medical Center.  The Resource Room provides FREE wigs, mastectomy bras, prosthesis, turbans, hats and scarves for patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
All of the items available at the Resource come from individual or commercial donations.  If you have any of the items listed above and they are no longer needed, please consider donating them.  All

items should be clean and in gently used condition.
I would be happy to pick up the items and deliver them to the Resource Room.  For more
information, please contact Joan Henry at 352-799-9078.
Community Relations by Ginger Flynn
Welcome back “snowbirds”
I would like to address some inquiries we have
received in regards to “pet etiquette.”  Both our community and Hernando County have rules governing control of pets.  The majority of High
Point pet owners are responsible & considerate; both in use of our own dog park
and in picking up after our dogs and keeping them quiet and off neighbor’s lawns.  As a confirmed dog lover, I know we all want others to love “our babies” as much as we do and we ensure that by keeping them from being a nuisance with regard to litter or noise.  Thank you all for your cooperation in that regard.  It is one of the things that make High Point a great place to live.
Social Club
Just a heads up regarding the Social Club Christmas party, on Tuesday the 1st of December.  Your current membership card will

be your entry to the party.  We will be collecting them at the buffet table.  If you have lost yours or you haven’t joined yet, please contact our membership chairperson, Ellie Martin @ 597-1409.
Membership in the Social Club is still a good buy, especially in these trying economic times. Your membership includes 8 evenings of live entertainment & refreshments, $1.00 reduction on Fun Night tickets, a  Christmas party with buffet and live entertainment and an Ice Cream Social at the end of the season, all of this for $4.00 per person per year, not to mention the “BULLETIN”  the bi-monthly magazine published by the Social Club.  The magazine is delivered to every door by Social Club members and it gives you all the information on every club and all the activities going on in High Point.
Community Center Cabinet
The new cabinet in the Community Center is a combined effort of the Fla. Red Hat Mamas, for idea and approval, Bob Waite, for finding and our own Kevin for refinishing and installing.  The plan is for H.P. organizations doing charitable works outside the community to have a place to display their awards to share with the Community and encourage people to get involved.

Explanation of the Proposed Changes/Clarifications to
the High Point Community By-Laws – 2009

Item # 1               Article 5 – Storage for Trailers, Boats, Etc.

The Purpose of this change is to clarify and improve the wording
regarding the parking of travel trailers, recreational vehicles, and
motor homes on a residents property so that they are not used for the
purpose of an additional dwelling.  The wording now more clearly state
that said vehicle is not to be used for a dwelling on a residents
property.  It also eliminates the restriction of having the unit hooked
up to utilities so that the owner may perform reasonable maintenance
on the vehicle within the 30 day/year limitation.

Item #2             Article 10 – Limitation of Mobile Home Size, Placement and Model Type:

The purpose of this change is to correctly state the roof pitch limitation of
not to exceed 5/12 (5 inch vertical rise/for 12 inch horizontal length).

Item #3             Article 1, Improvements – Section (a)(6)(i) – fences (decorative)

The purpose of this change is to clarify the permissible location of
Decorative fencing in the front area of a house.  More specifically
That decorative fencing may not be placed outside the roof line at the
                             front of the house.

Item #4             Article 1, Improvements 0 Section (b)(1) – flag poles

The purpose of this change is to increase the maximum height of a
flag pole to 20 feet which is allowed by government regulations.

Item #5             Article 10, Limitations on Mobile Home Size – (b) – landscaping
Article 13, Completion of Improvements, etc. – landscaping

The purpose of this change is to allow the options of “xeriscaping”
or “Florida-friendly” landscaping which is permitted by Florida
Statutes as an alternative to laying sod.
