Correspondence from our
CAM Susan Hildebrand
I would like to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year. We have received an overwhelming number of 2010 coupon books back in the mail. These books were mailed from the printer on December 11th so if you have not received your booklet or already been contacted by Audrey, please give us a call. In doing our detective work to try and unite the homeowner with their payment booklet we noticed that many of the files have no emergency contact forms. Please, if you are reading this, stop by the office and pick up an emergency contact form, or if you have been nice enough to have already turned one in, please check it for updates. We have also recently sent out the RV renewal contracts. Kindly remember each year we need a copy of your current registration and insurance. Without both, no money will be accepted. Please remember we have a General Membership meeting on January 7th at 2:30 pm. Now would be a good time to speak to a Director and join one of their committees for 2010. Pick up the 2010 by-laws at the meeting or the office.
Community Relations Assistant
Happy New Year! I hope all had a joyous holiday season.
Going into the New Year, we still have a number of homes in the community that are in need of pressure washing. Please take a few moments to walk around your home and determine if cleaning is needed. If so, there are a number of vendors who provide that service at very reasonable fees.
With various types of citrus fruit now in season, please be aware of the need to pick up any dropped fruit around trees. Fruit left on the ground will attract citrus rats, something we all want to avoid.
Also, please note that with the end of the holiday season, we will once again be enforcing any parking violations throughout the community according to our Rules and Regulations.
Thank you all for your help in these matters! May 2010 be the best year yet at High Point!

Travel Club by Trey Jordan Happy New Year High Point
We have made it through another holiday season and here we are at the year 2010. I hope everyone has a healthy happy year ahead of them with a much better economic forecast thrown in for good measure, sounds like a recipe to me! Well the travel club has a few things going on for the next few months. We have a 4 night cruise leaving on the 11th of January and a mystery trip on January 15th. We also have a trip to Tampa Bay Downs on the 21st of January. The Tampa Bay Downs trip is $44.00. We have a trip to the state fair on 2/10/10. The cost of this trip is $33.00. The travel club has a trip to Atlanta planned for March 22nd through the 26th. This is 4 nights and 5 days. There is too much to mention here but we have quite a bit in this trip. We have a number of cruises to choose from and a trip to the “Grand Canyon”. So come on out and see what the travel club has to do. We meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month in our Community Center at 11:00 am.

Water matters
Do your lawn a favor by keeping it healthy. Only water every other week in the winter. So turn off your timer to skip a week and turn it on the week you want to water. Watering too much when it’s cooler encourages pests and diseases. So skip a week, save your lawn and save some water too.
GARDEN CLUB By Ellie Martin Be prepared to protect tender plants from frosts and freezes. Plant covers retain radiant ground heat. Covers need to be kept off of the foliage (a few stakes around the plant will suffice) and extend to the ground. Weigh down the edges of the cover to keep it from blowing away. Contrary to popular belief, ice will not protect plants. The best thing to do would be turn off your sprinkler system anytime a frost is predicted overnight. Prune deciduous trees but hold off pruning ornamental plants at this time. Cold hardy trees and shrubs can be transplanted. Since most of the roots are concentrated in the upper foot of the soil, dig a wide but shallow root ball. Pinch annuals frequently to keep them compact and bushy.
