Did you know:  No one under the age of 14 can drive a golf cart in High Point.  This is in accordance with the
Florida statutes. With Spring break upon us please keep this in mind.
Did you know:  Hernando County has a Meals on Wheels program? The number is 796-1425.
Did you know:  We have a lost and found in the High Point office.   If you are missing anything like earrings, glasses etc., please check with the office.  Along those same lines there seems to be a surplus of jackets and umbrellas that have been left in the Community Center.
Did you know:  The Fire Department meets the third Monday @ 6pm at the fire station.  Meetings are open to residents.
By the way do you hear the siren at 6pm on Mondays? It’s a call to drill.
Something New in Town
We have started a “Vendor Book”.  In order to use it, come to the office and fill out a form that states what type of work you had done and by whom.
It allows you to write a brief comment, good or bad, about the vendor who did the work. We hope this will be helpful to our residents in choosing a vendor.   This book with be available in the office lobby for your perusal and/or input.
To our snowbirds have a safe trip home!

A helpful hint for all High Point residents.
Be aware of scams over the phone-the latest being a “stimulus scam.”  Consumers are being over-loaded or swamped with e-mails and phone calls promising stimulus money , grants or offering  to help them qualify for stimulus funds.  Consumers are asked to provide their bank account numbers and other personal information in order for the money to be deposited into their accounts, but instead, con artists drain people’s accounts or steal their identities.  The Sheriff’s Dept. should be notified so they can check out potential fraudulent offers.  Hernando Sheriff 754-6830 or www.hernandosheriff.org
Don’t forget to fill out your house watch forms before you head north, which are available at the office.

Spring is here, need to replace plants that suffered from the frost these past few weeks?  Please do not dispose of those plastic containers (just the small ones) the new plants come in.  Recycle by donating them to the Arts & Crafts club.
Crochet lessons offered through the Arts & Crafts club on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 12:30 pm  Yarn & Needle and easy pattern provided.  We will be happy to teach you.  Call Sarah Conroy at 352-592-5986.  Sarah will also pick up plastic containers.

Community Relations by Ginger Flynn

Now that spring is officially upon us we all need to be aware of a few common sense items with regard to the care of our property in accordance with our deed restrictions.
Grass & weeds are starting to grow, sometimes at an alarming rate.  If you have not yet set up service with your lawn vendor for this year, now is the time.  Please don’t wait until your neighbors are complaining to the office.  If all do their part in this, our Community will remain attractive and inviting.
With winters freezes now behind us, many are trimming and cleaning up trees and plants that were damaged.  Please remember that trash pick-up is on Wednesday & Saturday and do not put trash out to the curb more than a day in advance.  When trash remains by the road for several days, this too makes the Community look untidy and is not how we want to present ourselves to passers-by.  For large items, you can call Waste Management to arrange for pick-up, free of charge.
Thank you for all you do to maintain the appearance of your homes and yards.

ATTRACT WILDLIFE:
Plants in your landscape that provide food, water and shelter will attract Florida’s diverse wildlife.

High Point travel club
By Trey Jordan

Hello High Pointers
It looks as if many of our winter residents are getting ready to leave us this month.  We have talked about some different trips at travel club, many people have told us they would like to do certain trips, so please do not plan them for the end of April or September.  We do try to accommodate all of our people, but you sure can tell when the winter residents depart for their summer digs!  So far we have a trip planned for April 14th.  This will be our last mystery trip of the season.  It has lunch included with bus driver’s gratuity.  The cost is $57.00   We also have a baseball game for May 25th.  It will be a game between the Rays and Boston and is a night game.  I want to see all of you Boston fans signing up for this one.  The total is $48.00.  We have Myrtle Beach coming up in October and it is filling up fast.  So, if you want to get in on this one, get signed up now.  We have a number of great cruises for 2010.  So get to a meeting and see what is going on.  We meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month in our community center at 11:00 am.

Applications are being accepted for a part time position at the front gate. The deadline is 3:00pm 4/9/10.

Do not forget to make sure that we have an emergency contact form on hand.  This has been invaluable when a problem occurs at your home while you’re gone.
For those heading north for the Summer, please make sure you batten down the hatches for when hurricane season approaches.
Pool News by Kathleen Cerro, Sr. Pool Monitor
When the weather cooperates we will begin our water aerobic classes.   The water temperature must reach 82 degrees before we can safely resume our class.
Remember our Spring pool party will be on April 23rd from 6-9 pm.  B.Y.O.B. prizes, karaoke, fun in the sun.  It’s free, just bring a dish to pass.

HAPPY EASTER
