BEFORE YOU RENT
To homeowners who intend on renting their home out, here are some basic rules that MUST be followed prior to renting.
It is YOUR responsibility to contact the office PRIOR to your rental agreement being signed. Too often we hear that we have rented here before, but upon checking our files, we have no paperwork from the owner advising us that their home was rented.
Renters are required to do & pass a background check & meet the 55+ age requirement.
Leases can be no less than 90 days nor longer than a year at a time.
Renters MUST be approved prior to moving in. This is not only the rule, but for your own protection should they not pass, it’s harder to move them out once they are in.
Travel Club by Trey Jordan
Hello High Point,
What happened to Spring? Welcome to Summer. The travel club has a trip to the early bird dinner theatre for Father’s day. This is an evening show with dinner. The show is always a comedy and this one is “Funny Money”. On July 27th we have a 3 day trip to Ft. Myers, Fl. We will be doing The Dinner Mystery Train, The Edison & Ford homes along with The Lab & Museum. We will be going on a paddle wheeler up the inland waterway through the locks that control the water in Lake Okeechobee. This is a 5 hr. cruise with a buffet luncheon. In October we are going to Myrtle Beach for 5 days & 4 nights. This is a popular trip with 4 shows, 4 breakfasts, 4 dinners & much more. The travel club meets every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month in the community center at 11 am. We hope to see you there.

I have listed several ways the folks in our High Point Community can get rid of stuff!!!!
Leave your car or truck unlocked.
Leave your keys in your car or truck.
Keep bikes, wheel barrels, ladders, garden tools, etc. unlocked in your yard or driveway.
Keep your house unlocked day & night.
Golf carts & clubs left outside or better yet put everything you do not want at the end of your driveway with a sign! (HELP YOURSELF).
Wake up people, if you don’t lock it up you will lose it.

Just a little reminder that with the warm weather some health threats can cause serious health problems. Most of us have moved to Florida to get away from the cold, snow and ice, but the hot humid weather can be very dangerous if we allow our body to dehydrate. Please be cautious to the fact that the hot weather can cause a heat emergency that can lead to death. In most cases heat emergencies present themselves in three steps.
Heat cramps (our stomach & legs muscles begin to cramp)
Heat Exhaustion (our body goes into a protection mode in which we begin to sweat profusely, your skin will feel clammy, wet & cool & you may also feel some chills.)
Heat Stroke (your body has entered the danger zone and at this time it is imperative that you call 911.)
At this point you have run out of water, you have dehydrated, therefore you are in immediate danger. Your skin will feel hot, look dry and red. The best way to prevent these problems is to stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids, no caffeine or alcohol. Please use common sense, the human body can only take so much heat before it retaliates. If you feel that the heat or any other factor has threatened your safety, health and welfare, please do not hesitate to call 911.
This message is a reminder from your High Point Volunteer Fire Rescue Department. Please have a wonderful healthy and safe summer.
Garden Club by Ellie Martin
Flowers are blooming up and down your street. Summer is finally here. Green is everywhere. Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer. Here are a few tips on gardening.
Basic Ingredients for Successful planting of a Vegetable & Herb garden:
Like most garden plants, your sweet pepper needs soil that’s rich in organic material. It also requires plenty of sun, and ample, consistent watering. If you grow sweet peppers in containers (and they’re a good veggie for that), your potting mix should have lots of organic material. Miracle-Gro Organic Choice potting mix is an example. In your garden bed, you can work in compost or Miracle-Gro Organic Choice.
Planting sweet peppers:
If you want to grow peppers from seed, you can start them inside 8-10 weeks before you move them to your garden. Once outside you can space your plants about 24 “ apart and add a continuous-release plant food.
