 Travel Club by Trey Jordan

Hello High Point
I said I would not complain about the heat again after last winter, but !!!!!! I will leave it right there.
The travel club has a couple of trips planned for August & September.  We have a mystery trip planned for August 25th, which includes lunch.  The cost of this trip is $41.00.  I have to tell you there will be approximately 50 minutes on this trip that you are outside in a covered vehicle.  The rest of the time you will be inside with air conditioning.  We are working on additional trips for September and October.  We still have 2 spaces available for our 5 day, 4 night trip to Myrtle beach on October 18th.  It includes 4 breakfast, 4 dinners and 4 shows and much more.   So come out & see what your travel club is up to.  We meet the 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month at 11 am in the community center.

Garden Club by Ellie Martin:

Vegetables
You don’t need a huge plot of land to start a garden.  Many fruits and vegetables can be grown in containers;  beans, strawberries & lettuce do particularly well.
Seed companies come up with new varieties for small spaces.  Even “large” crops like corn can be attempted in a small spot.  But for those that want a sure thing, here are a few veggies that thrive in containers:
Cucumbers:  Salad Bush, Pickle Bush, Potluck, Space master
Eggplant: Bambino, Dusky, Millionaire, Slim Jim
Green Beans:  Blue Lake, Bush Romano, French Dwarf, Tender crop String less
Lettuce:  Butter crunch, Salad Bowl, Red Sails, Tom Thumb
Peppers:  Take your pick—almost any kind of pepper will do well in a container
Tomatoes:  Tiny Tim, Tumbling Tom, Small Fry, Pixie

Mobile Patrol by Ed Oleszek
What is Mobile Patrol?????
“WE ARE NOT” plumbers, dog catchers, appliance repairman or law enforcement officers.  We are not employees of HPCPO nor do we enforce by-laws or issues of HPCPO.
HP mobile patrol members are volunteers approved by the sheriff’s office by background & driving record checks.  Members become the eyes & ears of the Sheriff’s Office.  HP mobile patrol members on patrol look for things out of the ordinary—open doors, broken windows, suspicious vehicles at known unoccupied properties.  Suspicious persons or activities that you noticed should be reported to the authorities (Sheriff’s Dept.) Residents of HP should be aware of activities & issues in their immediate neighborhood & if something looks suspicious, & you haven’t seen or been able to contact that neighbor in a couple of days, call 911.  It is better to be safe than sorry.
Help your HP mobile patrol & keep HP a safer & more secure community!

Will You Serve?
Each November we elect High Point Board of Directors members to two-year terms.  This November High Point voters will be electing 4 members to our Board.  If you feel you can be a positive force for High Point & are available for year round service then please stop in the office to sign up as a candidate for the board.
Signs
Please remember as the primary elections are approaching that there are to be no political signs on your lawns.  You may place them in a window. Please read your by-laws about signs.
U.S. Troops

Please, we need donations  for the troops.    It is very slow during this time.  Keep in mind that it cost $10 for shipping.
Here is a list of a few things they could use:

instant oatmean, breakfast bars, writing paper/envelopes,
razors, games, cough drops, cd's, eye drops, gloves
lip-gloss, socks, soap, caps, shampoo, nail & hair clips
batteries
Thank you for your support.

HP Golf News by Katie Russell
Our country will be celebrating another birthday.  With that comes the HP parade, cook outs & friends.  The HP Golf club would like to wish you a Happy 4th of July & invite you to come to the HP café for hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, ice cream & special priced drinks.  We love having you come, visit with friends in the cool air conditioned lounge or take your food to the pool side deck or home.  We will be serving food, drinks & ice cream from 11:30 am to 2 pm.  DON’T COOK—LET US DO THAT FOR YOU.
Just a reminder, during the summer, you may golf as a non-member with a member by just paying the greens fees.
Our café has shortened summer hours so please check to see when they are open.

The storm that went thru High Point Sunday “trimmed” a lot of trees and took down several.  This should be a wake- up call.  Before we get another storm check your property.  If you are up North and reading this, please check
