Did you know:
Recently the HP Directors signed a contract with Hernando County Health Dept. that will enable the use of our community center to be able to disperse meds in the event of a medical emergency or disaster (i.e. swine flu, chemical release etc).  Thus making it easier for our residents as they won’t have to leave the community.  As always we are calling for volunteers to give out health forms & visit the shut-ins.

It is important we have on board any working or retired Doctors, PA’s, Dentist, Pharmacist, Vets, or Chiropractors.  Their job would be to go over the paperwork here rather then delay having to send it to the county before being able to dispense medication.  Please call Jean Albano 596-7435 for more information and to be placed on our volunteer list.

Hurricane season:
If you have special needs and need  evacuation assistance, your registration form needs to be filed with Hernando County every year.  You can obtain this form at the HP office and have it faxed to the County on your behalf.  Any questions call the office.

Hello High Pointers
We have a couple of new day trips coming up.  We are going on a mystery trip Oct. 7th.  This trip is $65.00 & includes lunch, taxes & gratuities.  On Dec. 3rd we are going to Vinoy Hotel in St. Pete for a historic tour & luncheon.  Afterwards we will head over to the lush tropical Sunken Gardens.   The  total is $58.00 for this trip.
We have a number of cruises planned for the up coming season and if you want to see what the travel club is up to, come to the meetings.  They are the 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month at 11 am in the Community Center.  We will only meet the 2nd Thursday of August because the Community center will be closed the last 2 weeks of that month.

We are fully into lawn mowing & hurricane season.  With that in mind, I have a few reminders.
With extra rain & sunshine grass & weeds grow at a phenomenal rate.  Keep that in mind when making arrangements with your lawn vendors.  Every other week cuts are the very minimum requirement this time of year.  We appreciate those of you who are able to arrange weekly cuts.

Golf Club News by Katie Russell

July has almost ended and what a July it was…..HOT & WET!!!!!
The Golf Club would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who supported us at the 4th of July cookout.  It turned out to be a wet day, but the food was good and the company of our friends and neighbors was even better.
If you are not a Golf Club member, you can still golf through the summer, Just grab a member, pay your green’s fees and off you go.  It is a great time to try the course and find out how great it is to golf at home, maybe even join.
We are having a Rib eye steak dinner special on the 27th of July and are planning to have a Spaghetti dinner special in August and a Steak Shoot.  Keep your eyes on Channel 95 and flyers that will be posted for all of our upcoming events.
Do you like to sing? The Golf club has Karaoke every Thursday afternoon at 3 pm with “The Shoe”.  Bring your favorite snack, a table full of friends or join someone you know and listen to the music, sing or dance.  This is a great way to spend a hot afternoon.

Mobile Patrol by Ed Oleszek
It’s summer and our numbers have dwindled, so it is most important that we are extra vigilant to protect what is ours, inside and outside, as well as checking on our neighbors.  Just because it’s quiet and peaceful does not mean crime is not out there.
WHEN IN DOUBT CALL 911 !!!!!
Be cool and stay safe this summer.
Will you serve?
Each November we elect High Point Board of Directors members to two-year terms.  This November High Point voters will be electing 4 members to our Board.  If you feel you can be a positive force for High Point and are available for year round service then please stop in the office to sign up as a candidate for the Board.
Wednesday Craft Club
We need small gifts for our Christmas Dollar Tree.  Any questions, see Ellie Martin.

Drama Club
Starting in the fall, we will have a drama club.  We have had over a dozen High Pointers that have signed up already.  If you are interested in joining, you can come to the office and see how you can add your name to the list.
For your information
There will be no board meeting the month of August.

Just a reminder NO POLITCAL SIGNS are allowed in your yard.
